Scream Baby Scream: Infidel Interview #64

First of, just want to thank you for participating in this edition of Infidel Interviews. Could you start off by giving a little information about yourself to the audience? Whatever you feel comfortable with, but name, age, what instruments you can play, and where you live would be pretty standard?

Hey, sure! I’m Becky Delirious the bass player/Composer for Scream Baby Scream...age?? mmm 18??? honestly, I don't remember. XD My grave is based in Milan but I see myself as a nomad spirit lost in space.

Everyone has their own attraction to horror. What elements of horror do you find yourself most attracted to? The shocks, the scares, the gore, the philosophical implication, or something more? Are there any particular styles or directors of horror that you find yourself particularly inspired by/attracted to?

OH SATAN!! THIS QUESTION IS SO FUCKIN HARD!! I first got into horror when I was 6 years old...One of my earliest memories was watching Pet Cemetery with my Mom xD

Anyway, at moment I feel attracted by everything from other worlds, esotericism, I can’t stop reading about it. It’s opened doors for me that can never be closed... but maybe you all will hear more about it when the new album is released. I totally admire Carpenter, Crawen, Stephen King and..ehm...Crowley and Lavey

Interview continues after the video!

When you first started making music, was there a particular sound or artistic/musical influence that you would say was your biggest inspiration to start pursuing the creative path yourself? What led you to electronic music, particularly the heavier kinds of it?

Oh sure, I was totally inspired by the great Alice Cooper and W.a.s.p! When I was a kid I managed to get to one of their shows, it was incredible and at that moment I though "Wow, I want to do that on stage!".

With Scream Baby Scream, the first important step that brought our sound into electronic music was when R.T3RROR join the band back in 2010. When he joined we had most of the first album already written and there wasn’t the space in the music or the time to rewrite some of the songs. When it came to our second album though that’s when our sound really evolved and added in the heavier electronica elements. At moment, we're working hard on the new album and I can honestly say, it will be the most electronic and aggressive album we have ever done!

I've heard there is a huge cover band music scene in the live market in Italy. Do you ever find it difficult to play shows in your own locale? Or is their an established underground / gothic music scene? Are their other artists in your local scene that you enjoy or even inspire you?

Cover bands?? WHO CARES?? In the Italian live music scene there’s enough space, you just have to want it enough to stand out. As I say, there’s enough space if you really wanna play… Some great bands have come out the Italian scene that have inspired me alot….Hell In The Club, Silver Addiction, Speed Stroke, Raging Dead and many other bands that deserve much more recognition!

You guys have mentioned you have something new in the works. What's the progress on your next release, and how do you feel this next release is going to evolve the sound of the band?

Hell yeah! We're arranging the new songs right now! What we’ll release is sure going to be different from our past albums but at same time still respecting the classic SBS sound. We’re giving more space for huge electro hooks…it’s going to be a lot more AGGRESSIVE!

What would you say would be you short term, and long term, goals for your band? What do you see in the future for your creative output?

For sure the new album is the next step in Scream Baby Scream’s plans…long term? Who know’s right now, many things can happen for sure. We’ll continue to make our music...and we’ll continue to make it louder!

You guys have had some pretty awesome opportunities to play shows across Europe. What has been your favorite place you have toured and why? And do you guys have any tour plans for the near future?

Oh having just one favourite isn't fair...I love to travel around the world with our music. Every place we’ve gone has been special in one way or another and we love to meet the fans and make new friends.

The craziest gigs and the most memorable tour moments have been in Scandinavia, Germany and the UK! I can’t wait to get back and play those countries again. Some of our management have been talking about Russia in 2017 to be the first gig to promote the new album…although nothing is confirmed yet!

Keep going, we got a little bit more after this video!

Would you say that your choice to pursue music has changed your life since you started? Would you say that creativity has evolved you spiritually, emotionally, or logically?

Absolutely, I am who I am today because of music. Ever since I started listening to bands like WASP and Alice Cooper there’s always a song that connects with the good and bad moments in your life…I couldn’t imagine life with out it!

What are some of the biggest challenges you have had to overcome in your musical career?

Oh the answers easy... sleep in the same room as my drummer! Absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done!

When it comes to visual inspiration to you have any artists or movies that you get your particular vibe from? Or is your style inspired by a certain personal symbolic reference? Or is just something that looks good to you?

Our style has evolved with us year after year and album after album. Like our first release when our zombie image and make up was inspired by the characters of campfire tales. Our image has changed to something darker, more deep and black from the influence of black magic and the world of spirits.

Do you have any other musical projects that you are involved with, or do you have any other musicians or artists that you collaborate with in some capacity? If you could collaborate with any musician or artist, dead or alive, who would it be? And what in particular draws you to want to collaborate with them?

I'm starting to co-work with a new band but it’s early days and too early to mention anything yet.

If I had the chance to collaborate with any musician that’s alive, it would have to be Michael Poulsen from Volbeat! It’s happened quite a few times where I’ve written a song and thought ‘oh this would sound pretty great with his voice!’ I’m a huge fan!

Thank you so much for participating in this episode of Infidel Interview. Any parting words for your fans, or my audience?
